HTC EVO 4G Review

Long anticipated, hugely specified and just plain huge: there’s a lot to like about the HTC EVO 4G. The first WiMAX phone in the US brings with it the promise of DSL-like mobile data access along with the flexibility of Google’s Android OS, complete with HTC’s now-legendary hardware quality and flexible Sense UI. On the flip side it’s nowhere near cheap and WiMAX coverage is marginal. Is this new superphone faster than a speeding bullet, or is that just how quickly it drains its battery? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.[slash]

iLuv iSP130, iSP150, and iSP170 Speaker Options Available Now

When we think about iLuv, we’re reminded of some very interesting, if not completely innovative accessories. And this time around, with the introduction of three new speaker options, iLuv hasn’t missed the mark. Each accessory is designed for a particular gadget in mind, ranging from your laptop to your iPod Touch, but all of which will bring you your audio needs in great quality.[slashgear]

BeBionic Bionic Hand Set for Worldwide Distribution in June

Bionic hands. Sometimes linked with some pretty heavy-duty bionic arms, are the thing of the future. And, while some people probably think they're still a few years out, it looks like a company called BeBionic wants to make it happen now. Not this week or anything, but much sooner than later. And, if anything else, you need to watch the video after the break. It's worth it. [slashgear]

White iPhone HD spotted in wild

A white iPhone HD isn’t exactly a new idea, but according to Apple.pro you’re looking at the real thing lying alongside its black brethren. Going by the second photo – which you can see after the cut – the handset hasn’t been fully assembled yet; there’s a considerable gap around the home button, for a start. Still, the front-facing camera is far more noticeable on this lighter hued model.[slashgear]

Nokia N8 benchmarks tip 180% speed boost over N97

While Nokia’s overall specifications for the N8 generally met with approval – if not, in the case the 12-megapixel camera, outright lust – the smartphone’s 680MHz processor led to some criticism that the phone might not keep up with its Android and Windows Phone rivals. Over at Finestfones they’ve apparently had enough hands-on time with an N8 prototype to run some benchmarking tests, and the reassuring news is that, in comparison with previous Symbian handsets, it’s quite the little speed demon.[slashgear]

Alienware M11x Core i3, i5 and i7 update due June

We weren’t exactly disappointed by the Alienware M11x gaming ultraportable’s performance when we reviewed it a few months back, but nor would we turn our noses up at a speed boost should Dell be so kind. As the rumors suggested, Dell are apparently planning to slot Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 CPUs into the 11.6-inch notebook, and according to Pearce Clune, Head of Consumer Operations for Middle East, Africa and Turkey, we can expect it next month.[slashgear]

Motorola Droid Will Receive Android 2.2 in the Near Future

You have to love the careful wording of any company out there. But, to be honest, this one from Motorola seems to ring a little differently. Almost like a different tone. Maybe that’s just because we have way too much faith, or hope. Either way, we reached out to Motorola, looking for a comment pertaining to future updates to their devices and how that all relates to Android 2.2, or Froyo if you prefer. And believe it or not, it’s good news.[slashgear]

iPod Touch With Camera Leaked

Vietnam-based website Tinhte has managed to get the first picture and video of the next generation iPod Touch. According to them, the device will sport a 2-megapixel camera and a 64GB of storage space. Unfortunately, it’s only a prototype at this stage, as you could see it has a DVT-1 (Design Verification Test 1) label on the back, meaning it’s an early design verification test unit in the evolution of product testing. Watch the video after the break.[tech24]

22 Megapixel Laptop drives huge multitouch wall

Remember the 22-megapixel multitouch wall display from a few months back? Having all those millions of pixels whipping around to follow your gestures is all well and good, but the 30 PCs used to drive the 28 projectors involved sucks down power, produces masses of heat and isn't exactly practical for home users. How about driving that same 22MP wall display, 28 projectors, from a single MacBook Pro? Video demo after the cut [slashgear]

ExoPC Gets Caught on Video, Still Features Windows 7

We say that it still features Windows 7, because we’re shocked that this tablet can boot up as quickly as it does, considering it’s stuffed with a full Operating System. But, in all honesty, that’s just one reason why we’re so excited to see the ExoPC up and running, with a video that will make you want your own in no time. And while we know there’s plenty of other tablets out there, we hope that this one’s stayed on your radar, because it’s definitely worth the excitement.[slashgear]

Nokia and Yahoo! deal for mobile services imminent?

Nokia are going full-steam ahead with their own package of services – the feature-toting update to Ovi Maps earlier this week is proof of that – but are they also planning a deal with Yahoo! which will see the latter company’s email, search and other applications and services built into certain Nokia models? That’s what AllThingsD are reporting, having been invited to Yahoo!’s “Project Nike” launch next week with the promise of “an exciting announcement about providing global consumers with rich online and mobile experiences”. They dug around and came up not only with the Nokia connection but some particularly snide comments about both firms.[slashgear]

HP: no webOS netbooks, HP Slate due October 2010

HP’s confirmation that it would be putting webOS into tablets and even printers was happily received, but anyone looking forward to a webOS-based netbook should think again. According to Monty Wong, vice president of the personal computing systems group at HP Taiwan, netbooks are too like mainstream computers to make them appropriate for webOS, and as such the company has no plans to develop them. Meanwhile he also had some news on the HP Slate[slashgear]

Cerevo Cam Live! Features Ustream Broadcasting

Gadgets from the past keep popping up, don’t they? This time around, we’ve got the big brother to a camera that jumped onto our radar late laster year. The Cerevo Cam was only sold in Japan, but it featured the ability to upload your pictures to your favorite social networking sites, courtesy of its built-in WiFi and 3G connectivity. This time around, though, things get a little bit more real-time, as the Cerevo Cam Live! now features Ustream capabilities.[slashgear]

Gateway ZX4300-01e & ZX6900-01e Refresh Series of All-in-One Touchscreens

Gateway doesn’t want to be left in the wind when it comes to news today, and they’ve managed to work up quite a good bit of press about their ZX Series of All-in-One PCs. This time around, the series is getting a bit of a refreshing addition, in the fact that two new models are being introduced. Please welcome the Gateway ZX4300-01e and ZX6900-01e. The names have a ring to them, don’t they?[slashgear]

HP Mini 210-1076NR Now Available from Verizon Wireless

Luckily, Verizon Wireless doesn’t announce netbooks as quickly as it does their cellphone line up. That gives the wireless carrier a far more compelling reason to release decent devices, instead of just piling up a bunch of hardware that no one would want. This time around, we’ve got the HP Mini 210-1076NR, or the HP Mini 210 for short.[slashgear]

iPod touch prototype with camera surfaces in Vietnam

40MP Pentax 645D camera gets video demo, one step closer to release

Pentax’s huge medium-format 645D digital camera has had a public outing in Toronto this past weekend, demonstrating its updated Kodak 44 x 33 mm sensor – that has climbed from 30- to 40-mexapixels since we first saw the concept back in early 2009 – and general all-round awesomeness. Shooting a single frame per second, the Pentax 645D is apparently intended for scenery and other still-life photography, rather than anything faster moving. Scolirk grabbed some hands-on time and a demo video you can see after the cut.[slashgear]

Seagate 3TB Hard Drive Confirmed for a Release Later This Year

Apple iPad demand "off the charts", new online orders pushed back

Apple looks to be out of stock of iPads in the US and struggling to meet demand in the UK for the launch scheduled at the end of the month.

It seems Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, wasn't kidding when on the back of selling 1 million iPad's in the first 28 days after launch in the US said that “Demand continues to exceed supply".

According to Apple's pre-order page in the UK and Europe, customers who've dallied over whether or not to get one, and hoping to avoid having to queue up in stores, will now have to wait until 7 June before the manufacturer will ship them an iPad.[pocket-lint]

Google Announces Google Phone Store Won’t be Selling Phones Anymore

Well, that’s odd. Back in January, when Google officially unveiled the Nexus One to the world, the other big announcement was the Google Phone Store, where they would be selling the device. The Store wasn’t meant to just sell the Nexus One, or at least that was what the original goal seemed to be. Google’s ideas to sell multiple phones, to multiple carriers seemed like a great idea, until they began to run into some road blocks. Which, apparently, have lead to the result of the actual selling of phones through the digital retail shop.[slashgear]

Apple iPhone HD Prototype’s Sealed Affidavit Now Available Now Available to the Public

Possibly the largest story to break this year, or many years before this in fact, has snowballed into what many would consider a ridiculous scenario that’s unnecessary, for both sides of the fight. While many of the details regarding the iPhone HD prototype’s existence outside a particular site’s hands have been hidden by red tape, most of that has now been cleared up, thanks to a push from other sites like Wired and CNET. Through their pressure, judge Clifford Cretan has issued a ruling Friday that made the affidavit and search warrant of Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen’s home available to the public. Below, you’ll find some of the details of what those documents revealed.[slashgear]

BT planning home media tablet with video calling & apps

When is an iPad rival not an iPad rival? Why, when it’s “the telephone of the future” of course. UK telco BT stirred controversy recently by demonstrating a touchscreen tablet device at their annual strategy day, prompting speculation that they were looking to take on Apple’s iPad with a device of their own; however, according to Ian Livingston, chief executive of BT, the tablet is actually a home-centric communication device rather than a true “mobile computer”.[slashgear]

Creative HS-930i headphones review

The Creative HS-930i headphones are designed with the iPhone in mind - they even picture the iPhone on the box and the inclusion of an in-line mic and a control button make them appear to have everything the discerning iPhone owner would need. But do they deliver once out of the box?

The first thing that surprises us is that the HS-930i is yet another design from Creative, yet carry the same price as the EP-3NC and Aurvana In-Ear2, which leaves us sort of wondering why there couldn't be some sort of crossover - after all, the admirable performance of the Aurvana In-Ear2 is equally valid on this type of headphone.

That aside, they offer up metal bodies with a swivelling bottom plastic section which means you can change the way the cable points out at the bottom. The main aim here is to allow you to wear the HS-930i's either conventionally, or routing the cables over the ears, as to your preference.[pocket-lint]

Solid gold iPad - a snip at £130,000

It was only a matter of time, but Goldstriker's Stuart Hughes, the designer behind the £2million gold iPhone is at it again; this time with the iPad.

The gold iPad SUPREME Edition is encrusted with 25.5cts of 'IF' Flawless diamonds - 53 in total, individually set within a solid 22ct gold Apple logo. Additionally, the rear and screen surround are made from a single piece of solid 22ct gold.

Of course, considering the company's history, it doesn't come cheap, but at £129,995, it is markedly less expensive than the previous gold iPhone. And, at least, you get the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G version of the iPad.

Footballers and Saudi Princes will have to hurray though, there's only 10 available globally. And we've got our eye on one... Erm...[pocket-lint]

iPhone HD Prototype Showing iPhone OS 4 Went Through Photoshop First

At least, that’s what some people have noticed over at the Vietnamese forum. And, as unfortunate as it may be, from the image that goes along with the Photoshop reports, they may be on to something. The torrid affair of the iPhone HD’s life in the public sector, well before launch, is obviously not going to slow down, and even though we brought these latest images to you earlier today (with an update that they could, indeed, be fake), it seems that it may be laid to rest.[slashgear]

Acer Could Bring Chrome OS Device to Computex 2010

Digital Storm to debut its vertically cooled gaming pc 'Black|OPS Assassin'

CALIFORNIA, USA (AVING) -- Digital Storm debuted the industry's most vastly superior vertically cooled gaming pc 'Black|OPS Assassin'.

The Assassin is Digital Storm's latest system under the Black|OPS brand, notorious for benchmark busting performance. Each Assassin system contains an innovatively designed chassis that naturally promotes vertical heat dissipation by taking advantage of heat's naturally tendency to rise. With three enormous 180mm fans positioned at the bottom of the chassis, cold air is pumped into the machine & warm air is forced out through the top of the chassis. Next, Assassin receives Digital Storm's Sub-Zero Liquid Cooling System treatment which not only removes performance inhibiting heat from the processor, but also from the motherboard's chipset and voltage regulators. The combination of these processes results in outrageous overclocking potential, with recorded overclocks of 4.4GHz and higher.

For hardcore gamers and enthusiasts who want the most astonishing graphics performance imaginable, Assassin is able to efficiently cool a three-way SLI configuration of NVIDIA's GTX 480s with minimal graphic card fan noise. Digital Storm has also rotated Assassin's motherboard 90 degrees clockwise, allowing for neat peripheral cable organization. The sleek, modern looking chassis is made entirely from aluminium and features a large side window that cleanly displays the world's best hardware within.[aving]

Samsung to launch the world's first 3D home theater

SEOUL, Korea (AVING) -- Samsung Electronics announced the launch of the world's first 3D home theater(model: HT-C6930W) in Korea market, offering the ultimate experience in 3D stereoscopic images and 3D sound.

With the launch of the HT-C6930W, Samsung now offers a total suite of 3D products including 3D TVs, 3D Blu-ray players, 3D content and 3D glasses.

HT-C6930W was created based on Samsung's expertise in 3D technology, which has already been displayed with its launch of the world's first full HD 3D LED TV and 3D Blu-ray player earlier this year. All of Samsung's models minimize eye fatigue and dizziness, and provide more vivid 3D stereoscopic images.

When it comes to sound, Samsung's 'Crystal Amp Pro' minimizes sound distortion and noise by refining input sound twice, delivering cleaner and clearer sound by amplifying analog signals with complete fidelity.

By adding two vertical speakers to the 5.1 channel speaker system with flat surround sound and realizing 1330W high-power surround based on a 7.1 channel speaker system, the HT-C6930W provides perfect vertical surround sound for 3D which conventional systems cannot provide. This provides a true immersive 3D experience at home.

The system is equipped with Wi-Fi wireless network technology and AllShare home network technology, and can easily reproduce multimedia content stored in devices such as PCs or mobile phones through both wired and wireless networks.

What's more, Internet@TV, a widget-based, easy-to-use, internet service allows users to enjoy useful information on the internet such as news, weather, stocks, UCC and movies for free. Content and Firmware updates are both done automatically.

With advanced features including a single button click of the remote control to change full screen function from 21:9 screen to 16:9 without losing height and 'Automatic Sound Field Optimization' that automatically calculates the distance from speaker to listener and provides optimized sound, the HT-C6930W is Samsung's most advanced home theater to date.

Suggested price is around 1,400,000(KRW).[aving]

As a successor model to the DP2, the DP2S incorporates a new AF algorithm, a Power Save Mode and a new rear design.

When this mode is enabled, a greater number of pictures can be taken with a single charge of the battery. The new rear design aids quick recognition of the controls. The addition of red markings has been used to enable easier operation of the cameras controls.

Incorporation of a new noise reduction algorithm reduces Chroma and Luminance noise when processing X3F files taken at ISO400 or more. It is possible to adjust the level of reduction for noise just by moving the slider in the control pallet. With the Macintosh version, functions such as JPEG conversion and batch white balance settings, which were previously incorporated into Windows versions, have been added.
