We found out late last month that Lenovo had killed off the interesting sounding Skylight smartbook in favor of devices running Android. Second-Gen Sony VAIO P up for sale

Sony’s second-generation VAIO P has now gone on sale through the company’s Sony Style online store, a week ahead of its expected debut. The VAIO P – which refits the original ultraportable with bright new casing choices, a new navigation system and some mildly fettled specs – had originally been tipped for a June 25th release, with preorders kicking off earlier this month.[slash]

Sony VAIO Z and Y notebooks get “Share My Connection” WiFi router functionality

Sharing a single data connection across multiple WiFi devices seems to be a growing trend these days, popularised by the MiFi mobile hotspots and then spreading to cellphones and now laptops. Sony has announced that their VAIO Z and Y series notebooks will have a “Share My Connection” (SMC) option, that when turned on allows up to five nearby devices to connect via WiFi.[slash]

Verizon Motorola DROID X shows up on “coming soon” teaser

Verizon has officially acknowledged the Motorola DROID X, with a new teaser page that suggests the touchscreen smartphone is “coming soon”. Accompanying the image – which suggests the DROID X will slot in-between the original DROID and DROID Incredible – are a few basic specifications: a 4.3-inch, 720p capable display and an HDMI output.[slashgear]

HTC EVO 4G Review

Long anticipated, hugely specified and just plain huge: there’s a lot to like about the HTC EVO 4G. The first WiMAX phone in the US brings with it the promise of DSL-like mobile data access along with the flexibility of Google’s Android OS, complete with HTC’s now-legendary hardware quality and flexible Sense UI. White iPhone HD spotted in wild

A white iPhone HD isn’t exactly a new idea, but according to Apple.pro you’re looking at the real thing lying alongside its black brethren. Going by the second photo – which you can see after the cut – the handset hasn’t been fully assembled yet; there’s a considerable gap around the home button, for a start. Still, the front-facing camera is far more noticeable on this lighter hued model.[slashgear]

Nokia N8 benchmarks tip 180% speed boost over N97

While Nokia’s overall specifications for the N8 generally met with approval – if not, in the case the 12-megapixel camera, outright lust – the smartphone’s 680MHz processor led to some criticism that the phone might not keep up with its Android and Windows Phone rivals. Over at Finestfones they’ve apparently had enough hands-on time with an N8 prototype to run some benchmarking tests, and the reassuring news is that, in comparison with previous Symbian handsets, it’s quite the little speed demon.[slashgear]

Alienware M11x Core i3, i5 and i7 update due June

We weren’t exactly disappointed by the Alienware M11x gaming ultraportable’s performance when we reviewed it a few months back, but nor would we turn our noses up at a speed boost should Dell be so kind. As the rumors suggested, Dell are apparently planning to slot Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 CPUs into the 11.6-inch notebook, and according to Pearce Clune, Head of Consumer Operations for Middle East, Africa and Turkey, we can expect it next month.[slashgear]

iPod Touch With Camera Leaked

Vietnam-based website Tinhte has managed to get the first picture and video of the next generation iPod Touch. According to them, the device will sport a 2-megapixel camera and a 64GB of storage space. Unfortunately, it’s only a prototype at this stage, as you could see it has a DVT-1 (Design Verification Test 1) label on the back, meaning it’s an early design verification test unit in the evolution of product testing. We say that it still features Windows 7, because we’re shocked that this tablet can boot up as quickly as it does, considering it’s stuffed with a full Operating System. Nokia and Yahoo! deal for mobile services imminent?

Nokia are going full-steam ahead with their own package of services – the feature-toting update to Ovi Maps earlier this week is proof of that – but are they also planning a deal with Yahoo! which will see the latter company’s email, search and other applications and services built into certain Nokia models? That’s what AllThingsD are reporting, having been invited to Yahoo!’s “Project Nike” launch next week with the promise of “an exciting announcement about providing global consumers with rich online and mobile experiences”. They dug around and came up not only with the Nokia connection but some particularly snide comments about both firms.[slashgear]
