Verizon Motorola DROID X shows up on “coming soon” teaser

Verizon has officially acknowledged the Motorola DROID X, with a new teaser page that suggests the touchscreen smartphone is “coming soon”. Accompanying the image – which suggests the DROID X will slot in-between the original DROID and DROID Incredible – are a few basic specifications: a 4.3-inch, 720p capable display and an HDMI output.[slashgear]

HTC EVO 4G Review

Long anticipated, hugely specified and just plain huge: there’s a lot to like about the HTC EVO 4G. The first WiMAX phone in the US brings with it the promise of DSL-like mobile data access along with the flexibility of Google’s Android OS, complete with HTC’s now-legendary hardware quality and flexible Sense UI. On the flip side it’s nowhere near cheap and WiMAX coverage is marginal. Is this new superphone faster than a speeding bullet, or is that just how quickly it drains its battery? White iPhone HD spotted in wild

A white iPhone HD isn’t exactly a new idea, but according to Apple.pro you’re looking at the real thing lying alongside its black brethren. Going by the second photo – which you can see after the cut – the handset hasn’t been fully assembled yet; there’s a considerable gap around the home button, for a start. Still, the front-facing camera is far more noticeable on this lighter hued model.[slashgear]

Nokia N8 benchmarks tip 180% speed boost over N97

While Nokia’s overall specifications for the N8 generally met with approval – if not, in the case the 12-megapixel camera, outright lust – the smartphone’s 680MHz processor led to some criticism that the phone might not keep up with its Android and Windows Phone rivals. Over at Finestfones they’ve apparently had enough hands-on time with an N8 prototype to run some benchmarking tests, and the reassuring news is that, in comparison with previous Symbian handsets, it’s quite the little speed demon.[slashgear]

You have to love the careful wording of any company out there. But, to be honest, this one from Motorola seems to ring a little differently. Almost like a different tone. Maybe that’s just because we have way too much faith, or hope. iPod Touch With Camera Leaked

Vietnam-based website Tinhte has managed to get the first picture and video of the next generation iPod Touch. According to them, the device will sport a 2-megapixel camera and a 64GB of storage space. Unfortunately, it’s only a prototype at this stage, as you could see it has a DVT-1 (Design Verification Test 1) label on the back, meaning it’s an early design verification test unit in the evolution of product testing. Nokia and Yahoo! deal for mobile services imminent?

Nokia are going full-steam ahead with their own package of services – the feature-toting update to Ovi Maps earlier this week is proof of that – but are they also planning a deal with Yahoo! which will see the latter company’s email, search and other applications and services built into certain Nokia models? That’s what AllThingsD are reporting, having been invited to Yahoo!’s “Project Nike” launch next week with the promise of “an exciting announcement about providing global consumers with rich online and mobile experiences”. Apple iPad demand "off the charts", new online orders pushed back

Apple looks to be out of stock of iPads in the US and struggling to meet demand in the UK for the launch scheduled at the end of the month.

It seems Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, wasn't kidding when on the back of selling 1 million iPad's in the first 28 days after launch in the US said that “Demand continues to exceed supply".

According to Apple's pre-order page in the UK and Europe, customers who've dallied over whether or not to get one, and hoping to avoid having to queue up in stores, will now have to wait until 7 June before the manufacturer will ship them an iPad.[pocket-lint]

Google Announces Google Phone Store Won’t be Selling Phones Anymore

Well, that’s odd. Back in January, when Google officially unveiled the Nexus One to the world, the other big announcement was the Google Phone Store, where they would be selling the device. The Store wasn’t meant to just sell the Nexus One, or at least that was what the original goal seemed to be. Google’s ideas to sell multiple phones, to multiple carriers seemed like a great idea, until they began to run into some road blocks. Which, apparently, have lead to the result of the actual selling of phones through the digital retail shop.[slashgear]

Sprint to launch HTC's first 4G smartphone 'EVO' on June 4

Apple iPhone HD Prototype’s Sealed Affidavit Now Available Now Available to the Public

Possibly the largest story to break this year, or many years before this in fact, has snowballed into what many would consider a ridiculous scenario that’s unnecessary, for both sides of the fight. While many of the details regarding the iPhone HD prototype’s existence outside a particular site’s hands have been hidden by red tape, most of that has now been cleared up, thanks to a push from other sites like Wired and CNET. Through their pressure, judge Clifford Cretan has issued a ruling Friday that made the affidavit and search warrant of Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen’s home available to the public. It was only a matter of time, but Goldstriker's Stuart Hughes, the designer behind the £2million gold iPhone is at it again; this time with the iPad.

The gold iPad SUPREME Edition is encrusted with 25.5cts of 'IF' Flawless diamonds - 53 in total, individually set within a solid 22ct gold Apple logo. Additionally, the rear and screen surround are made from a single piece of solid 22ct gold.

Of course, considering the company's history, it doesn't come cheap, but at £129,995, it is markedly less expensive than the previous gold iPhone. And, at least, you get the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G version of the iPad.

iPhone HD Prototype Showing iPhone OS 4 Went Through Photoshop First

At least, that’s what some people have noticed over at the Vietnamese forum. And, as unfortunate as it may be, from the image that goes along with the Photoshop reports, they may be on to something.
