Samsung has worked together with Kraft Foods to install vending machines that are claimed to be the next generation of vending machines. These snack machines adopt a specially built 46-inch LCD panel, which functions as a giant touchscreen, bringing up a host of nutritional information on the food inside. For Kraft, the Internet-connected machines can also be used to sell additional products to hungry customers. For Samsung, the vending machine is part of a long-term strategy to boost its LCD business, which generated 14% of the firm’s 28.67 trillion Won or around $21.4 billion first-quarter revenue. EMTEC has recently unveiled their upcoming nettop PC based on NVIDIA Ion platform. Dubbed as the G-Box, this tiny computer adopts an Intel Atom CPU with the HD-capable graphics and system combo chipset. Here are several pictures of the futuristic lights that were taken from an exhibition called Artemide. The coolest entries is the Altrove by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, which is a decorative wall or ceiling light that uses transparent wires to allow the light to flow. The next one is Ross Lovegrove’s Cosmic Leaf, which falls like a hallucinated piece of furnishing and is supposedly made of textured methacrylate set in a chromed steel structure, with an inviting come-hither curve. There is also the Chilone by Ernesto Gismondi that is made in brushed steel and uses low energy LEDs.[Newlaunches]
The upcoming Archos 9 mini tablet PC is powered by Windows 7 as its operating system. Weighing at only 22-ounces, the tablet netbook has a 9-inch touch sensitive display with an Intel Atom Z515 CPU, and a storage capacity of 60GB or 120GB.
